Commissioned by Art+ and in collaboration with Field Studio for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and The Children’s Hospital Charity, Christopher created the artwork for the new state-of-the-art ward for patients undergoing treatment for cancer, leukaemia and blood disorders (Ward 6) at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

On arrival, patient receives their own DIY viewfinder kit with interchangeable lenses, allowing them to create their own imaginary dream worlds from their bed.
You can find the most interesting of things when you zoom into to the details. The secret corners where stories are to be found.

“Stories are one of the most ancient and most effective ways of making sense of the world.” — Philip Pullman

As and when they are able to move about the ward, there are paintings, shapes and forms to be explored with larger shapes and viewfinders, used as tools by the physio team to help develop strength and mobility.

The concept and visual design of the ward was informed through creative workshops with patients, families and staff.
